The long-anticipated arrival of the All-New 2020 Jeep Gladiator is here! If you have been watching or have gone to any of the most recent auto shows like SEMA, you have heard and seen the pre-production 2020 Jeep Gladiator! This beast boasts the ability to outperform all other mid-size pickup trucks in it's class, while still maintaining the ruggedness and agility you expect from a Rubicon-Valley trail-rated Jeep Wrangler.
The 2020 Jeep Gladiator gives you all the functionality of a Jeep Wrangler whether you are driving on roadways, off-roading on or off trails, water-fording through up to 30 inches water, while giving you the ability to enjoy the most open-air pickup available. The Gladiator can be optione with a soft top, or the 3-piece hard. Both roof operations are similar to the standard Wrangler. You will still be able to take the windshield down and remove the doors. The Jeep Gladiator also gives you the functionality of a mid-size pickup truck! It is built on a completely different chassis than the Jeep Wrangler, which allows it to outperform all other mid-size pickup trucks in its class. The New Jeep Gladiator has been rated best in class towing at 7,650 pounds and payload at 1,600 pounds when properly equipped.
So it can perform, but is it convenient for everyday use? The answer is yes! The Gladiator is 31 inches longer than the current 4-door JL Wrangler Unlimited. It is equipped with a 5-foot bed, which extends the wheel base by 19.4 more inches and also increases the weight by 400 pounds versus the standard 4-door Wrangler. When the Gladiator first hits showroom floors in late 2019, it will come with the dependable 3.6L V6 Pentastar engine providing the Gladiator with 285 Horsepower and 260 foot pounds of torque. The 3.6L will be able to be paired with either the 8-speed automatic transmission or the 6-speed manual transmission. Next year, the 2020 model will also have an available ecodiesel option. The ecodiesel will have slightly less horsepower, providing 260 horsepower, but will almost double the available torque with an amazing 442 foot pounds.
The Gladiator will come in 4 trim levels: The Sport, Sport-S, Overland, and Rubicon. The Sport, Sport-S, and Rubicon will be like its Wrangler counterpart, and the Overland option will be most similar to that of the Sahara. The Gladiator will come with a standard-equipped class 4, 2-inch hitch receiver as well as the four and seven pin connectors and has two 4x4 systems available, you will get the Command-Trac system in the sport and Overland models, and the Rock-Trac in the Rubicon.
If you have ever found yourself in a Jeep Chrysler Jeep Ram showroom going back and forth between a pickup and a Wrangler, now you don't have to choose... you can have both in the new 2020 Jeep Gladiator.
